The Outaouais Gourmet Way
The Outaouais Gourmet Way is a project meant to unite the community by presenting the various pleasures and attractions of the Outaouais region leveraging two mediums: a printed map distributed in different locations in the region (mainly tourist information kiosks and at our member locations) as well as an interactive web site.
The Gourmet Way is divided in four “cardinal” itineraries that guide food enthusiasts in discovering the richness of the agri-food sector that surrounds us and that is sadly often unknown to many.
While the main objective of this project is to highlight regional businesses and artisans, the Gourmet Way also contributes to shape a regional pride that will, we hope, strengthen the feeling of belonging to our rich and beautiful region through the celebration of a know-how and an agricultural heritage that shape products of incomparable freshness and quality.
This is also a great way to strengthen ties between the urban lifestyle and its rural surroundings.
Table agroalimentaire de l’Outaouais
The Outaouais Gourmet Way is coordinated by the Table agroalimentaire de l’Outaouais, a non-profit organization that has, amongst others, the mandate of promoting the regional agri-food sector and its businesses, notably through the regional promotional campaign Outaouais, Bite Into It!
Since the beginning of the project, the Gourmet Way benefits from constant support of important regional partners: the ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ), Outaouais Tourism, Canada Economic Development, the Conférence régionale des élus de l’Outaouais (CRÉO) and the Centres locaux de développement de l’Outaouais (CLD). Other partners like the regional Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDC) also helped build the project five years ago.
